  THE US are set to deploy long-range bombers close to the Chinese border as tensions between the powerhouses reach boiling point.

  US officials are currently seeking to strike a deal with Australia that will see its military forces temporarily based in the North of the country, near to the fiercely disputed South China Sea. The highly contentious area is mostly claimed by Beijing but Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam have all staked claims in parts of the sea.
