  The US urges Turkey to stop shelling the positions of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party and the Syrian army in Syria’s northern province of Aleppo. State Department Spokesman John Kirby said Ankara’s Syria strikes do not add up at this time as the situation is already volatile in northern Syria. He also called on the Syrian Kurds not to seize new territory at this time. Kirby said Turkey and the Syrian Kurdish fighters must work together as they both share the serious threat of Daesh in northern Syria. Kirby had earlier said that Washington does not consider the Syrian Kurds as terrorists. The comment prompted Turkey to summon the US envoy in Ankara. The Turkish president also warned the US that it has to choose between Ankara and the Syrian Kurds.
