Britain closely assisting Saudi Arabia in its war on Yemen; the British foreign secretary says UK troops are present in the kingdom to ensure that quote legitimate military targets are struck in Yemen.
Addressing lawmakers in the House of Commons, Philip Hammond said U-K troops are helping identify targets. He said British troops in Saudi Arabia have not found any evidence of deliberate breaches of international humanitarian law. His remarks come amid widespread criticism of Britain’s support for Saudi airstrikes in Yemen. Human rights groups along with the EU and the UN, have expressed concern over Saudi Arabia’s use of cluster bombs against civilians in Yemen. Over 7,400 people, mostly women and children, have been killed in the Saudi war since March.
