Iraq Demands “Complete Withdrawal” of Turkish Forces from Its Territories

  Iraq’s Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi’s office demanded a complete withdrawal of Turkish troops from Iraqi territory and respect for its sovereignty. This comes a day after Turkish officials said a group of soldiers was withdrawn from a military camp near the northern city of Mosul, as part of a rearrangement of troops. Iraqi officials, however, said the trainers still remained at the site, and that Ankara has other military sites within northern Iraq’s Kurdistan region. Turkey has had troops near Mosul since last year, but the deployment of additional troops earlier this month angered Baghdad.
