Secretary General Nabil el-Araby has called the move a blatant intervention by Ankara in the neighboring Arab state. On Sunday, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi warned that Baghdad will use all available options, including the UN Security Council, if Turkey doesn’t withdraw its forces within 48 hours. He stressed that Ankara’s action was in violation of Iraq’s national sovereignty. Meanwhile, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has said that Ankara would halt further deployment of troops to northern Iraq. Also, Foreign Minister Mevlut Chavush-oglu has claimed that the deployment was aimed at training and advising Iraqi forces. Ankara deployed hundreds of military forces to a camp near Mosul in northern Iraq on Thursday, calling it part of a program to train local forces fighting against the Daesh terrorists.
