China Urges US to Stop Heightening South China Sea Disputes

  Beijing has also defended its construction activities on a chain of islands in the South China Sea. It says no country has the right to point finger at the activities. Earlier in the day, U-S President Barack Obama called on China to stop reclamation, new construction, and militarization on the disputed islands. He said the halt is needed to lower tensions between Beijing and its neighbors. The tensions have been running for a long time. China’s smaller South East Asian neighbors reject its claim of the islands and construction activities there.
