Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is regarded as a wanted criminal in Spain over the raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla more than five years ago. Netanyahu and seven senior former and incumbent officials could be arrested if they set foot on Spanish soil after a judge issued warrants for them. Top on the hit list are the current minister of military affairs Moshe Ya’alon and his predecessor Ehud Barak, ex-foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman, and former intelligence minister Dan Meridor. Israel has rejected the move as a provocation and says it will try to get it revoked. Back in 2010, Israeli commandoes attacked an international fleet of ships carrying aid to the besieged Gaza Strip. The intruders killed nine activists aboard a Turkish vessel dubbed Mavi Marmara. The International Criminal Court considers the attack as a war crime.
