Syrian army, backed by Russian airstrikes, has gained more ground against terrorists in the war-ravaged country. Syrian military officials said the government troops advanced in key areas in western Syria, seizing most of the hilly region of Jeb al-Ahmar. Russia’s Defense Ministry said Air Force hit 27 terrorist targets in central and northern Syria on Wednesday. The airstrikes destroyed Daesh strongholds and training camps in Homs, Hama and Raqa provinces. Meanwhile, the archbishop of Melkite Greek Catholic Church in the city of Aleppo has welcomed Russia’s massive military campaign in Syria. He said the operations have raised “hope” for the country’s Christians, and can help defeat militants.
