Russian President Vladimir Putin has criticized the US support for militants in Syria. Addressing the 70th session of the UN General Assembly, Putin criticized those who he said are using militant groups as a tool to achieve their own political goals. The Russian president called for the creation of a broader international anti-terrorist coalition with Muslim states as key members. Putin said refusal to work with Syrian government is quote-an enormous mistake. He also noted that Syrian forces and Kurdish fighters are the only forces truly fighting the ISIL in Syria. Putin also slammed financial support for terrorists in an apparent reference to some regional states who are funding militant groups in Syria.
