  Iran has sent its 34th navy fleet to the Gulf of Aden and Bab al-Mandab Strait in line with the country’s policy to safeguard naval routes. The flotilla comprising the Bushehr logistic vessel and Alborz destroyer left the southern Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas on Wednesday. The three-month deployment of the Iranian fleet will protect vessels against pirates. In recent years, Iran’s Navy has increased its presence in international waters to protect merchant vessels and tankers. It has foiled several pirate attacks on both Iranian and foreign tankers.
