Iraq: Iran Main Supporter of Baghdad in Fight Against Terrorists!

  The Iraqi parliament speaker says Iran has been the main supporter of Baghdad in the fight against terrorism. Salim al-Jabouri made the comment in a meeting with visiting Iranian First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri.

  Jabouri said regional problems are hopefully settled with the help of Tehran. The Iraqi speaker added that ISIL terrorists are retreating in Iraq, stressing that disagreements in the region benefit no one. He further called for even closer cooperation with Iran in political and economic spheres. Jahangiri, for his part, congratulated Jabouri on the Iraqi army’s recent victories against ISIL. The Iranian official called for stronger ties in Iraq both among political parties and religious groups to prevent extremism and violence. He said fighting the Takfiri terrorists also requires cutting off their funding.
