“ … it turns out the creation of Israel had not, after all, been a haphazard fight in which the Arabs fled their homes at the directives of their own leaders, but it had been an unprovoked, systematic campaign of ethnic cleansing by the Jewish militia involving massacres, terrorism and the wholesale looting of an entire nation.” – from 4:22 onwards
- Israel Launches New Genocide Against Gaza!
Just 24 hours after Egypt brokered a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas, following weeks of escalating back-and-forth attacks, Israel carried out an assassination of the Hamas military commander, Ahmad Jaabari, and conducted F-16 and helicopter bombing assaults on Gaza, killing seven others and injuring scores of residents.
Jaabari had been the lead negotiator for Hamas in the deal that led to the release of IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, and to the cease-fire that had held for more than a year — until the attacks today. Jaabari had been known to be close to the moderate wing of the party, led by Khalid Mashal.
The Israeli assault was code-named “Operation Pillar of Defense,” and could be merely the beginning of a protracted assault on the Gaza Strip. Four years ago, following the last U.S. presidential elections and before the inauguration, Israel launched “Operation Cast Lead,” a month-long bombing and ground war attack that left thousands of Palestinians dead and devastated the entire Gaza economy and infrastructure. The current operation comes two months before Israeli elections. The assault on Gaza by the IDF also comes just weeks after the Emir of Qatar made an unprecedented visit to the Gaza Strip and pledged half a billion dollars in economic aid to the besieged coastal enclave. For the past days, Israeli artillery fire has targeted sites on the Golan Heights as well.
