my husband teaches middle school here in Greece and he deals with malnourished and starving students all the time. They have a hard time concentrating during class, they lose consciousness, they miss school a lot, they start fights with other students, etc. Greek schools don’t have cafeterias or food provided in any way so there is nothing the schools can do. I’m not sure if this is something people really care about though, outside of Greece. Interesting to see it mentioned in a foreign news report, even if by a Greek journalist.
