With this move (if True) Trump has effectively said:

“Those of you Europeans who want war with Russia can do so without USA help!”.

In the event that Nuclear WW3 actually occurs with Russia. Trump is laying the groundwork to abandon NATO and Europe. Ie. he probably hopes and plans of no American involvement in the Nuclear WW3 in Europe. Russia will win but both Russia and Europe will be decimated in the Nuclear WW3. America by not being involved will end up as winner!
