As the war with Ukraine continues and tensions between world powers continue to rise, many fear Russian President Vladimir Putin will turn to the nuclear option once his soldiers “run out of steam.”
Dmitry Medvedev, who served as Russia’s president before Putin, warns the ongoing conflict could lead to a full on “nuclear apocalypse.” In a video posted on Telegram, Medvedev told his followers, “Has the threat of a nuclear conflict passed? No, it has not passed. It has increased.” “Each day when foreign weapons are delivered to Ukraine ultimately brings this same nuclear apocalypse closer,” he continued.
Medvedev made similar ominous remarks after a warrant was issued for Putin’s arrest by the ICC. In response he wrote, “It is quite possible to imagine a hypersonic missile being fired from the North Sea from a Russian ship at The Hague courthouse.”
