Florida Releases Genetically Modified Mosquitoes as ‘Death Mechanism’

  The state of Florida has begun its release of 12,000 genetically-modified non-biting mosquitoes. Scientists hope that their “friendly mosquito technology” will reduce the spread of deadly mosquito-borne diseases in the Florida Keys and end the state’s reliance on costly pesticides.
