  Left-wing fact-checkers working for Facebook are censoring news and analysis critical of Joe Biden and stopping the public from seeing legitimate news coverage, according to Sky News Digital Editor Jack Houghton. “Traditionally, the social media platforms, particularly Twitter and Facebook, have always defined themselves to be platforms and not publishers, it’s a really important distinction, it means they can’t be reported for defamation,” Mr Houghton said. “It’s a distinction which means we wear all the risk, all the liability for the content we put out, we have to vet it, we have to make sure it’s accurate. “They have now overreached.” Mr Houghton said Facebook was the most aggressive of the platforms and was censoring subjective opinions its fact-checkers disagreed with. “Now we’ve got a situation where last week we quoted Donald Trump, they labelled it misinformation,” Mr Houghton said.

  “Now these are fact-checkers from PolitiFact, a very left-leaning organisation, and the way that Facebook have done this, they’ve set up third-party independent fact-checkers but they slant very left-leaning, then they can wipe their hands of it. “It’s not just Sky News, CNN’s been pinged, the Guardian’s been pinged … (fact checkers) have such overwhelming power to completely change the algorithms that news organizations rely on – disrupt their revenue streams – based on opinions. “Now this PolitiFact judgement here, they said Donald Trump wasn’t allowed to say that ballots magically disappear and they were surprise ballots. They said, well they weren’t surprise ballots because people warned they were coming. “
