… Trump’ plan which will exacerbate and entrench conflict rather than resolve it, gives the Palestinians a fractured, multi-enclave entity while allowing Israel to annex approximately 30% of the West Bank, granting Palestinians territory equivalent to 14% of the West Bank, primarily from the Negev desert, which is located dozens of kilometers from the Gaza Strip.

… Initial maps released by the White House as part of its peace proposal indicated plans for Israel to annex all Israeli settlements and the fertile Jordan Valley, which makes up around a third of the occupied West Bank. … The Palestinians have rejected Trump’s plan, under which the vast majority of West Bank settlements would be incorporated into “contiguous Israeli territory”. JERUSALEM, June 2 (Xinhua) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Tuesday that he is in talks with the U.S. administration over pushing forward his controversial plan to annex a portion of the occupied West Bank.
–
Netanyahu made the remarks during a meeting with heads of the “Yesha Council,” an umbrella group of Jewish municipal councils of West Bank settlements. The meeting was also attended by speaker of the parliament Yariv Levin, who is also a lawmaker with Netanyahu’s Likud party.
–
“We have a historic opportunity to apply sovereignty in the territories of Judea and Samaria,” Netanyahu said, using the Israeli name for the West Bank.
–
The prime minister said he is “in discussions” with U.S. officials over the implementation of the plan to annex the West Bank’s Jordan Valley. “It was agreed to continue the dialogue,” he said. He reiterated his commitment to negotiate on the basis of U.S. President Donald Trump’s “peace plan,” which the Palestinians have rejected as biased and unfair. Netanyahu made the annexation a main promise during his re-election campaign in March.
–
The Palestinians consider the annexation as illegal and the European Union warned that the move will harm chances for peace. Several European states have called for sanctions on Israel, should it move ahead with the plan. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said last month that the Palestinian Authority is no longer committed to any signed agreements with Israel or the United States.
