The New York Times has revealed that three Arab states could get $40 billion as part of US’ deal of the century, while the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip could see investments worth $24 billion over ten years, the New York Times reported.
–
Unconfirmed sources said Egypt, Jordan and perhaps Lebanon would benefit from the funds as part of the deal which the US administration has been touting as the agreement which will bring an end to the 70-year-old Palestine-Israel conflict. Though the US will fund part of this payment, the majority of the money will be allocated from the coffers of wealthier Gulf Arab states, the report added.
–
The details have come to light while US President Donald Trump’s advisor and son-in-law Jared Kushner is undertaking a tour of the Middle East in an effort to garner support for the deal including visits to the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey.
–
However many have questions whether Arab states will back a deal which does not clearly include a sovereign Palestinian state.
