Syria Urges UNSC to Condemn Aleppo Gas Assault
- PressTV Published on Nov 25, 2018
Syria has called on the United Nations to condemn a chemical attack by terrorists that left scores of people injured in the northern city of Aleppo. The Syrian Foreign Ministry described the chemical assault as a scenario aimed at implicating the Syrian government. Iran’s foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also blamed western countries for refusing to condemn the gas attack in Aleppo. Zarif said the west only denounces such attacks when they are allegedly committed by their enemies and not their allies. Damascus says shells fired at an Aleppo neighborhood caused breathing difficulties and blurred vision in more than 100 residents. Health officials say the symptoms suggest that chlorine gas was used in the attack, but terrorists have denied using poisonous substances. The Russian Defense Ministry has also confirmed that the shells contained chlorine. Russia also said that they were fired from the de-escalation zone in the neighboring Idlib province. The area is controlled by the Nusrah Front terrorists.
