Saudi Arabia comes under a barrage of criticism over its recent deadly airstrikes in Yemen’s southwestern province of Ta’izz. The UN rights chief slammed the shelling of residential areas in Yemen as “indiscriminate”. Zeid Ra’ad said Saudi airstrikes are behind almost two-thirds of reported civilian deaths and also the destruction of civilian public buildings. Meanwhile, a high-level meeting on Yemen has been held at the UN in which the participants warned of the growing number of civilian casualties. The meeting also called for humanitarian aid access to Yemen.
