Syria says the latest Israeli airstrike on the Golan Heights has left at least five people dead. Syrian officials say the victims were unarmed civilians and died after their car was hit. Tel Aviv claims it has targeted four Palestinian fighters. The airstrike follows more than a dozen Israeli air raids and shelling on Syrian army positions in the Golan Heights on Thursday. The Syrian army says the attacks left one of its soldiers dead and seven others wounded at a military post in the southern region of Quneitra. Tel Aviv says the attacks were in response to rocket fire from Syria. Israel seized 1,200 square kilometers of the Golan from neighboring Syria in 1967.

Since late Thursday, the Israeli army has started to conduct airstrikes and fire artillery rounds on the Syrian-controlled Golan Heights. As our correspondent Hamad Awidat reports, the attacks come as Israel has just begun major war games in the occupied regions of Golan.
