- Slavyansk self-defense forces to change tactics, switch to offensive – spokesperson!
The self-defense forces of the town of Slavyansk in the Donetsk People’s Republic in eastern Ukraine are planning to switch from defensive to offensive tactics, Stella Khorosheva, press spokeswoman for the People’s Mayor Slavyanks, said Wednesday.
On February 22, Ukraine’s then President Viktor Yanukovych was illegally removed from power by the Verkhovna Rada, parliament, following an armed coup. The Parliament altered the Constitution and called an early presidential election, set for May 25.
On April 15, the new Kiev authorities started a military operation to quell pro-federalization rallies in the east of the country. Moscow condemned the use of force against civilians and warned that the situation could take an extremely dangerous turn.
