  RAMALLAH/NEW YORK – About 60 Israeli extremist settlers on Wednesday broke into the Al-Aqsa Mosque, yards away from the Al-Magarbah Gate in Jerusalem, under the protection of Israeli soldiers and policemen, a Jordanian news service reported on Wednesday.

  During a debate in the UN Security Council on situation in the Middle East, Pakistan’s permanent representative to United Nations Masood Khan condemned storming of Al-Aqsa mosque compounded by Israeli extremists.

  He said debate in the Israeli Knesset on annexing Al-Haram Al-Sharif and provocative actions like disruption of Easter celebrations undermine peace, heighten tensions and further destabilize the region. Masood termed the occupation of Palestinian lands by the Israeli forces illegal.

  Bahrain’s Representatives Council also expressed its rejection and strong condemnation of the Israeli desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque and attempt to transfer its administrative sovereignty to Israel. The council denounced Israel’s desecration of Islamic sanctities and the discriminatory practices of the extremist groups.
