  Edward Snowden’s material once again shows the lie of Obama’s claim that the NSA is only interested in terrorism — this time, showing that the Brits’s “Five-Eyes” operation run out of the NSA and GCHQ were hard at work on behalf of genocide worldwide, spying on the diplomats attending the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference in 2009, both before and during the event. In the end, China and India, especially, rejected Obama’s personal demand that they sign on to a pact to self-destruct under what the NSA document calls “legally binding commitments to limit greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.”

  The Huffington Post and the Danish newspaper Information today released one of Snowden’s documents, which had been posted on an internal NSA website on December 7, 2009, the first day of the climate summit. It reads:

  “[A]nalysts here at NSA, as well as our Second Party partners [the Five Eyes – UK, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand], will continue to provide policymakers with unique, timely, and valuable insights into key countries preparations and goals for the conference, as well as the deliberations within countries on climate change policies and negotiation strategies. While the outcome of the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference remains uncertain, signals intelligence will undoubtedly play a significant role in keeping our negotiators as well informed as possible throughout the 2-week event.”

  Perhaps this means normal intelligence gathering from each nations policy papers? No indeed – listening in on “sidebar discussions” will be one method, as the document reports:

  “[L]eaders and negotiating teams from around the world will undoubtedly be engaging in intense last-minute policy formulating; at the same time, they will be holding sidebar discussions with their counterparts – details of which are of great interest to our policymakers.”

  Nor does the NSA hide the fact that their “enemy” was the developing nations, especially China and India. The report states: “Reaching a global climate-change agreement will not be easy for the delegates. The greatest challenge to the talks remains the North-South divide. The leaders from the North — i.e., developed countries — see climate change as a problem with irreversible consequences that cannot be solved without the full participation of developing countries, especially emerging market economies. The leaders from the South — or developing countries, led by China and India — see the climate change problem as not of their making and believe they are being asked to fix it in ways which will hamper their ability to raise their standards of living.”

  But, argues the NSA document, forcing this genocide pact down their throats is essential, since “Success or failure will have far-reaching effects in the areas of foreign policy, environmental issues, and energy security.”

  The Danish Information also reports on another leaked NSA document from 2007, which shows that the NSA was involved in climate policy spying already, citing Secretary of Defense for Intelligence James Clapper (now Director of National Intelligence) saying that the “environment is becoming an adversary for us. And I believe that the capabilities and assets of the Intelligence Community are going to be brought to bear increasingly in assessing the environment as an adversary.”
