• Israel Strikes Syria Again!

  The Obama administration has made public an Israeli attack on a military installation near the Syrian port city of Latakia earlier this week. The Israeli government has not admitted to attacking its neighbor.

  “We don’t refer to foreign reports,” the Israeli government told when asked for comment by CNN.
  –
  The Israelis struck a storage facility containing missiles and related military equipment they claim would have been transferred to Hezbollah, the Lebanese resistance group formed after Israel invaded the country in 1978.

  The attack occurred on the same day the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons said Syria has destroyed all of its declared chemical weapons.

  Syria announced on October 17 that it would be amenable to peace talks with so-called rebel groups supported by the U.S. and the Gulf monarchies. Syrian deputy minister Qadri Jamil said in Moscow that the discussions could be held in Geneva on Nov. 23, the New York Times reported.

  The Israeli press reports the strike was against Russian SA-8 surface-to-air missiles. The SA-8 is not an offensive weapon. It is an antiaircraft missile used for defense.

  Israel has violated Syrian sovereignty and launched military attacks inside the country on numerous occasions. In January, the Israelis bombed a convoy in Syria it said was moving weapons to Hezbollah.
